Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society that was
formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and
assistance are offered to sick, disabled, and needy members and their families.

Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare and public relief works.

The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, and public relief works.

Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being
investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world’s foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society.

Among the many charities are  Georgia Mountains Hospice,  Safe Choice Pregnancy Care Center, St. Vincent de Paul,  Veteran’s  programs,  Good Samaritan Council Knight’s  Annual Thanksgiving Turkey and Food Drive,  Gilmer County Food Pantry,  Georgia State Charity Raffle,  Kid’s Ferst  of Gilmer County, Gilmer County Five Rivers Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Gilmer County School System Sports  Teams,  CCD Children’s  Christmas Parties, Annual  Easter Egg Hunt after Masses for  parish children,  CCD End of School  Year Party,  Support and Ordination Gifts for Seminarians,  Good Samaritan Building Fund, Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper for All  Parishioners*,  Lenten “Captain D’s” Fundraising Fish Dinners,  Monastery of the Holy Spirit “Pennies from Heaven”and the “TAPAS” Parish Fundraiser, now known as “Come Together” .

All local charities receiving donations from Good Samaritan Council 14181 get as much publicity in local media as deemed appropriate, to bring public awareness of their organizations.
